Welcome to Abbott House
Located on five acres of beautiful land, Abbott House is home to five really great fellows. Our land is full of fruit trees that we harvest in the summer for fresh fruit, and a large garden that provides us with fresh vegetables.
Also located on our land is a large woodlot. This woodlot is used by our Community Inclusion program "Wood Project". This project provides individuals within our Society with customized employment and opportunities to give back to the community.
The fellows that live at Abbott House participate in our Community Inclusion program. These activities include bowling, games of billiards, grocery shopping, nature walks, garden project and meeting friends for a coffee.
They also join their friends from other homes and societies to dance and sing at Monday Music. In the evenings, they enjoy participating in a bowling league, having dinner with friends, and dances in Victoria where they meet and socialize with various people.
They enjoy attending various events at local venues such as concerts or sports games. In the summer months when they are not gardening, they meet friends to play friendly
games of baseball and have pool parties. Everyone enjoys participating in events such as Operation Trackshoes and Special Woodstock.
Twice a year, all the residents of Vital Society gather together to camp. The camp is a local site with cabins and large hall to come together for meals. They enjoy walking along the Cowichan River, going on nature hikes and participating in scavenger hunts. In the evening they all sit around a campfire, sing, and roast marshmallows to make smores and just socialize with everyone. Often, the Society will invite others from the community to play a friendly game of baseball and have lunch. It makes for a fantastic day of friends and fun!
